Obituary For Derrick Dewitt Cofer

Derrick Dewitt Cofer, 64, of Larue, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2026 in Tampa, Florida.

Derrick "DD" was born on February 12, 1962 in Henderson County, Texas to Ruby Jewel and John Cofer. He lived in in Larue, Texas and graduated from Brownsboro High School. He later attended Cisco College in Abilene, Texas and Tyler Junior College, Tyler, Texas. He received his electrician certification from ETI (Electrical/Plumbing) Trade School in Athens, Texas and later received his State of Texas Plumbing License. During his life he was a very hard worker - he was plumber for over 10 years, an Over-The-Road Driver for Steven Transport - Dallas, Texas, a Bucket Truck Operator for Striping Tech Inc. - Tyler, Texas as well as a Truck Driver for CUDD Energy Services, Kilgore, Texas.

He was known for his loyalty, humor, love for his community and dedication to his family. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, farming, riding horses and drawing. He took pride in helping others and was also know for doing plumbing work for members of the community whenever someone was in need.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Tameshia Cofer and Taleshia Cofer and grandchildren, X'avier Cofer and Jewel'Liana Smith, along with a host of relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Jewel and John Cofer, and a stillborn brother, John Michael Cofer.

His life and legacy will continue to live on through those who loved him.
