Obituary For Ishmael Lloyd Brown
Ishmael Lloyd Brown, “Charlie,” age 92, of Valrico, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, with his granddaughter and longtime caregiver, Kimberly Brown, by his side.
Born on November 1, 1932, in Tampa, Florida, he forged a life filled with compassion, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and served three tours of Vietnam. He met his wife, Pauline, the love of his life, while attending a training course, building an adventurous life together for 49 years full of love and cherished memories. He excelled as an aviation electrician and mechanic in the U.S. Navy until his retirement as a Master Chief Petty Officer.
A family person and caregiver at heart, he was the caregiver for his wife and assumed legal guardianship of two granddaughters, Kimberly Brown Haueter (Joseph) and Jamie Brown Marshall (Nicholas), whom he raised from a young age. He was an active member in the American Legion, Lions Club, and Hurricane Hunters until his illness. He had a gift as a storyteller, relating his life events, experiences, and history, touching all those he came in contact with. His presence touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his daughters Kathy Rubio (Ernesto), Susan Bergeron (Jean), stepson James Lightfoot (Susan), along with many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. as well as a community that holds him dearly in their hearts.
He is predeceased by his parents, Roy Brown, Minnie Lee (Polk) Brown, wife, Pauline (Locascio) Brown, son, Kenneth Brown, stepson, Charles Lightfoot, and sister Juanita Coyle.
Services rendering military funeral honors will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida, 33513, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers for Ishmael Brown, the family encourages donations be made to your local Lion's Club or American Legion.
