Obituary For Joyce Elaine Fritz

Joyce Elaine Fritz, 81, entered eternal rest on March 11th, 2025, in Brandon, Florida. Joyce was born on April 24th, 1943, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, to Walter Donald Sandt and Hazel Loretta (Kintz) Sandt. ‍

Joyce married James Allen Fritz on December 28th, 1963, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and spent 60 beautiful years together. They were blessed with two children: SueAnn (Fritz) Irish and Michael James Fritz.

Joyce is an alumnus of East Stroudsburg High School. She moved to Key West, Florida, where her husband was stationed for four years in the Navy where they welcomed their first child. She then returned to Pennsylvania, where she and her husband raised their two children and watched their grandchildren grow. She and her husband later retired to Florida, where they spent the remainder of their lives.

Joyce was a warm soul who made an impression on many lives. She enjoyed her time as a Girl Scout leader and working for the Teddy Bear store. Her most precious moments were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She loved cooking for her family and was renowned for her recipes, which her daughter and granddaughters try to recreate. She enjoyed NASCAR and cheering on her Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Joyce is survived by her children, SueAnn (Fritz) Irish and Michael Fritz; her granddaughters, Jessica Irish, Ashley Irish, and Madison Fritz; and her great-granddaughter, Addison Fluck. She is additionally survived by her siblings, Irma (Sandt) Hoffner and Donald Sandt.

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Fritz, and her parents, Walter Sandt and Hazel (Kintz) Sandt.

Joyce will be missed by many and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and Nana. The family finds peace knowing she is now at rest with her cherished husband.

The family will be holding a private memorial service where she and her husband’s cremains will return to their home and be buried together with their family at the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

    I'm so glad we had the pleasure of being in their company the few times they came back to PA. Joyce and her football stats and Jim and his ice-cream cravings. They were both wonderful people and will be dearly missed. Jarrod and Tonya.
