Obituary For Rebah Nancy Parsons
Rebah Nancy Parsons – known fondly by either or both names – was a vivacious and beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to many in her 89 years of life. She passed away on the morning of April 18th, 2026, comforted by loved ones in her cherished Plant City, FL home.
Born on December 13th, 1936, in Jacksonville, FL to the late Stuart and Rebah Katherine (Waldron) Lockhart, she later relocated to and spent much of her life in Maryland, where she met her husband, Jim. They settled in Annapolis, MD - loving every minute they lived there.
Rebah graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Maryland in 1954 and subsequently lived a full and eventful life of service over many years. She served the National Security Agency (NSA) abroad in Germany during the Cold War and worked for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC (where her daughter Cheryl would often visit). In the final steps of her career, she worked for the U.S. Naval Academy as the Midshipman Information Services (MIS) Officer for 17 years.
A lifelong artist and creative, she could usually be found painting, drawing, and sewing, often accompanied by a song either sung by herself or the nearby radio. After relocating back to Florida, Rebah spent countless happy days by the pool with friends and neighbors, spending summers in Cincinnati with her daughter and grandchildren (bestowing endless gifts and treats upon the latter). Her family will dearly miss her dedication to watching the news with great gusto, earning her the nickname “Constant News Nancy” (CNN), and the many following phone calls warning of impending weather updates or other pertinent events (frequently many days after said event had occurred).
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl C. Martin (Fred) and her grandchildren Emily (Chandler), Matthew (Sarah), and Marissa (Dylan). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Stuart and Katherine, husband (Jim and their dogs Punch and Riley), her sister Elizabeth, her brother Bud, and the world’s meanest cat, Woo Woo.
A Catholic mass was given in her honor in April, while a celebration of life will be held in Cincinnati in June, followed by a memorial service to be held at a later date in Annapolis, MD, where she will be interred with her husband at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
