BILLY GRANGER

BILLY GRANGER 06/01/1940 - 11/19/2024 Billy Joe Granger passed away on November 19, 2024, at the age of 84 in Brandon, FL. Born on June 1, 1940, Bill, as he was affectionately known, led a life marked by his love for his family, his passion for Alabama football, and his pride in being a veteran of the US Navy. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Reta Granger, his sons Steven (Stephanie) Granger, and Eric (Daryl) Granger, and daughter Cathy (Ed Albritton) who was his devoted caretaker for the last sixteen months, along with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His sisters, Barbara Williams, Mary Lou Smith, and Debra Wilson, also survive him. Bill's long career as a professional photographer allowed him to capture the world through his unique lens, bringing joy and beauty to everyday moments. He attended Bessemer High School, where he met his lifelong friend Tom Gilmore, and he began to develop his talents that would later define his professional life. Bill will be remembered for his vibrant spirit and the family gatherings that were brightened by his presence. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 1 pm at the US National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, where he will be laid to rest. The family has much appreciation for the caregivers from Savannah Court of Brandon, LifePath Hospice, and especially Nicola Wynne. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory can be made to the Lions Club International, supporting causes that were close to his heart.
