George Gattos

George Gattos February 14th, 1941, - October 13th, 2022 It is with great sadness that the family of George Gattos announce his passing on Thursday, October 13th, 2022, at the age of 81, having suffered repercussions from a stroke. George passed away peacefully at home in Zephyrhills, Florida, and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rita, his son, Bryant, and the last of his three siblings, Tom and partner, David. Granddaughter Jaime Strong and great grandson Skylor Strong. George worked in baking most of his life, supervising for 23 years in the Cake Department at Awrey Bakery, Livonia, Michigan, followed by work in Research and Development at Elias Brothers Big Boy in Warren, Michigan before his retirement in Florida. He was a member of the Elk's club in Plymouth, Michigan, Dale Carnegie graduate and a member of the Oldsmar Optimist club. He loved telling funny stories and always had amusing anecdotes for any occasion. While laughter was the lingua franca by which he lived his life, his wife and family were always his main focus. George will also be lovingly remembered by his countless friends who will pass on his legacy of jokes and stories with a smile for years to come. He will be buried at sea in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday, October 29th. The mermaids there are already smiling in anticipation of his joining them for the foreseeable future. He might have preferred the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, but this was the next best thing!
