George John Nalesnik

George John Nalesnik February 22, 1942 - April 14, 2022 Loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. George John Nalesnik passed away peacefully in his sleep in Brandon, Florida on April 14th, 2022 at the age of 80 years old. He was born in Holyoke, MA the eldest son of the late John and Alexandra (Alice) Szpila Nalesnik. He grew up in Holyoke and South Hadley, raised his family in Easthampton and later settled back into South Hadley. George served on Active Duty in the Marine Corps and afterwards in the United States Air Force Reserve at Westover AFB. After the Marine Corps, George worked in the paper mills in Holyoke, was a South Hadley Police Officer and became a mail clerk at UMass, Amherst to get his sons through college. George loved his cabin in Vermont, his dog "wolf", collecting antiques, but most of all his friends and family. George’s life was one of selfless service, humility and gratitude as evidenced by his years of military and police service. He was the type of person who would stop whatever he was doing to come help his family or a friend in need. His sons Jeff and Dean were always a top priority in his life and there was never a doubt that he loved them very much and was very proud of them. His friendly personality and fun-loving sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him. George leaves behind his former wife Carol Lombardi Nalesnik, their son Jeff Nalesnik and wife Stephanie Nalesnik, their son Dean Nalesnik and wife Sarah Nalesnik, his brother John Nalesnik and wife Laura Nalesnik, his grandchildren Clayton, Barrett, Harrison, Tyler, Alex and Severo, his nephews Matthew Nalesnik, Daniel Nalesnik, Tony Lombardi, niece, Gina Lombardi, and his cousins Ed Maziarz and Walter Nalesnik. He is recently predeceased by his life-long best buddy the late great Henry Patrick Ingersoll. Fortunately, shortly before George's passing his entire immediate family traveled to be with him and celebrate his life. Future gatherings to honor George will be arranged once he is returned to his home state of Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an organization George supported regularly, the Disabled American Veterans organization.
