Hortense Hanshew Rodriguez 08/11/1929 - 05/31/2024 Hortense Hanshew Rodriguez, 94, of Valrico, FL transitioned peacefully to Heaven on Friday, May 31, 2024. She was born in Tampa, FL on August 11, 1929, to Manuel Alonzo and Elena Vivaceta. Some hobbies that she enjoyed were ceramics, collecting porcelain dolls, and singing. Hoody traveled through many states in her 94 years, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia to name a few. She had family throughout all of these states that she loved very much. She worked and fought hard for everything that she ever had in life. She had to overcome many obstacles in her life but was a great person all around and lived her life to the fullest. Hoody worked as an Accounts Receivable Clerk for two different companies and was also a schoolteacher in Nebo, Va. Hoody loved the little city of Nebo and wrote "How I met Nebo, VA". Hoody was a devoted wife to Harold Hanshew and Frank Rodriguez. Hoody was the loving mother of Harold and David Hanshew. She was a grandmother to Michael and Chris Hanshew, Jennifer Marnoch and Jason Hanshew. She held Frank’s grandchildren Bonnie Baumgarder, Theresa and Joseph Rodriguez close to her heart. She was a great grandmother to Deneen Gray, Amanda Hanshew, Christina Crouch, Cheyenne, Savannah, and Brady Marnoch, Lily and Hazel Hanshew. Hoody was a dedicated sister to Raymond, Beatrice and Linda Alonzo and Adeline Cooper. Hoody also left behind two very dear friends, Shirley and Renee Dumas. A private interment with close family will be held in Nebo, VA where she will be buried next to her first husband Harold Hanshew.
