Joseph O'Sullivan

Joseph O'Sullivan 08/20/1939- 02/19/2024 Joseph P. O'Sullivan, Sr. was born in the Bronx, NY, on August 20, 1939. He had five older brothers and one younger sister. The family was tight-knit and Joe loved to share stories of what it was like for his siblings and him growing up in the Bronx, as well as the time they spent in Ireland. As a young man, Joe joined the Navy where he worked as a Chaplain's assistant. His time in service enabled him to "see the world." In January, 1970, Joe married his wife, Roberta, and together they raised ten children, first in the Bronx, and then on Long Island. He and Roberta spent their last years in sunny Florida. Joe helped many people throughout his life, especially through his involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.). He was kind, compassionate, generous, non-judgmental, wise, and most of all, incredibly funny - almost everyone he knew, has/had a funny story involving him. Joe had many loves: his family, especially his grandchildren, his Irish heritage, God and the Catholic Church, New York City, which he knew like the back of his hand, the Yankees, A.A., joking around, and his sweets (Joey Desserts). He is pre-deceased by his parents, Matt and Mary O'Sullivan, his brothers Pat, Matt, Roddy, John, and Tommy, and his grandson, Robby. He is survived by his sister, Maureen, his children: Frank (and wife, Haifen), Dorothy (and husband, Rob), Robert (and wife, Laura), John (and wife, Kenna), Peggy, Joseph, Mary Ellen, Nora (and husband Jason), and Patty (and husband Nigel), as well as his grandchildren: Michael, Timmy, Kelley, Michael, Andrew, Kevin, Chris, Danny, Jaime, Amy, Samuel, Hannah, Vincent, Nicholas, Brynn, Abigail, Anna, Aaron, and Nathaniel, and great grandchildren: Callie, and Julianna. Joe's legacy will live on through all who knew and loved him, and the seeds of kindness he sewed will continue to reap harvests for generations to come. Faugh a Ballagh ("Fagabaya!!!").
