Luz Celenia DeJesus Bentley January 24, 1943 - December 25, 2021 Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend Luz Celenia DeJesus Bentley, age 78, of Brandon, Florida went to be with her Lord December 25 th , 2021, after a long hard-fought battle with heart disease. Although she did suffer with a bad heart, it did not define her. Luz was a woman of faith that no matter what was going on she was speaking to her Lord. She was an example to her children, Ricardo 61, Barbara 60, Michael 57, and Laura 56, and her seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, family, and friends. To those who knew Luz, we hope you will remember her as she was before her heart slowed her down. She worked her whole life sometimes working two or three jobs at a time. She started cooking over a fire at 7 years old for her grandfather where she lived in the countryside of Puerto Rico. At 13, Luz was making costume jewelry in New York, after her children were in school, she did foundry work, later helping the Latin community at the Spanish Center, and third shift for 26 years at Allen Bradley where she met and was married to Herman G. Bentley until he went home in 2012. She counted herself most blessed and fulfilled working as a nursing assistant and in home healthcare. She loved people and caring for them in that capacity. Luz’s creativity shown bright through her many projects whether it was sewing for family, fixing or remodeling the house, or especially preparing meals for her family and friends. We will be celebrating her life at Brandon Cremation & Funeral Services at 621 North Parsons Avenue Brandon, Florida on Wednesday, January 5 th . The viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30am, and services from 10:30 to 12 noon. At 2pm Luz will be interred with her husband, Herman at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota County.
