Margie Joyce Bertman (Zahrli) November 30, 1940 - May 15, 2022 Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was born on November 30, 1940 to Clarence and Edna Mae Zahrli (Dixon) of Golden Eagle, IL. In 1960, she married John Bertman of Jerseyville, IL. Nine years later, she gave birth to their only child, Laura. After nearly 40 years of marriage, John died on April 19, 2000. Margie led a full and happy life. She lived in Illinois, Kansas, and settled in Florida. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Margie loved taking care of everyone whether it was working alongside John at his family department store and being his secretary when he worked for Lee Jeans, supporting Laura’s activities as a child and volunteering at the schools Laura taught at as an adult, cooking for her ever hungry grandsons, or reading to her great-granddaughters. Margie was a fantastic baker. Everyone loved her cookies and they were always requested at gatherings of family and friends. Another talent was her crocheting. If she wasn’t donating baby afghans to a church, she was giving one to whoever had just given birth. She loved to travel and go camping, first, with John and Laura and then, with Laura’s family. She also enjoyed a trip to Europe with her sister, Lila, and an Alaskan cruise with Jeff, Laura, Jeff’s parents Al and Sandy, and Lila. She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Jeff) Johnson, her grandsons Corey (Jessie), Matthew and Bryan Johnson and her great granddaughters Lilly Holland and Holly Johnson, all of Florida. There will be a graveside service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd followed by a reception beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Estancia Clubhouse 4000 Estancia Blvd, Wesley Chapel, FL 33543.
