Mary Margaret Hicks November 27th, 1958- October 31st, 2023 Mary Margaret Hicks (nee Connally), 64, of Brandon, Florida, passed away on October 31, 2023. She was born on November 27, 1958, in Tampa, Florida, to Robert Walker Connally and the late Virginia Diane Johnston. Mary was a beloved wife to Darryl Hicks, a cherished mother to Jennifer Hicks, a stepmother to Jeannie Spencer, and a loving daughter to her late mother and stepfather, Robert William Johnston. She is survived by her husband, Darryl Hicks, her daughter Jennifer Hicks(Joshua), her stepdaughter Jeannie Spencer(Jason), her 4 grandchildren, her 4 brothers and 1 sister. Predeceased by her mother Virginia Johnston and her stepfather Robert Johnston. Mary was a kind, caring, and stubborn person who always sought to find the light in any situation. She was a strong fighter, but she preferred to keep her struggles hidden from others. Mary had a clear vision of what she wanted in life and would not take no for an answer. She was a remarkable person through and through. Mary attended Brandon High School and went on to have a successful career as an Administrative Assistant at TAW/IPS from 1996 to 2023. She was dedicated and hardworking in her profession. Outside of work, Mary found joy in her hobbies as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth. She valued the community and camaraderie she found within the organization. Mary worshipped at New Hope Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. The church, located at 213 N Knights Ave, Brandon, FL 33510, will be hosting a memorial service in her honor on November 19, 2023, starting at 1:30pm. And a gathering in the Social Hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, a cause that was close to Mary's heart. Mary Margaret Hicks touched the lives of many with her kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
