Willie Leon Spivey April 15th, 1935- October 20th, 2023 Willie Leon Spivey (1935-2023), a native of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on the evening of Friday, October 20th in Dover, Florida. He is survived by a devoted daughter, a cherished grandchild, a loving son-in-law, a caring brother, and other extended family. Mr. Spivey was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the ranks of the U.S. Army as a combat engineer, receiving a medal for good conduct. Post-service, he started a family in New Jersey while working in the New York City metro area, before moving his family to Florida in the early 1980s. However, it was the open road that truly captured Willie's spirit. Road trips, with their promise of scenic vistas and the embrace of untamed landscapes, fueled his passion. His reverence for wildlife was evident on every winding highway he traveled, as he delighted in the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural landscape of the continental United States. His journey may have reached its terminus, but his memory will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to walk the road of life alongside him.
