Frances Alean Carter

Frances Alean Carter April 18, 1935 - April 21, 2022 Loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. On April 21, 2022, Frances Alean Carter, loving matriarch of the Carter family of Brandon, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 87. She was born on April 18, 1935 to Hinton and Alberta (Wildes) Petty in Waycross, GA. She and her husband, Buford, moved around the South in the early years of their marriage, sparking her life-long passion for travel. They settled in the greater Brandon area to raise three children: Tim, Brent, and Cindy. She was an active homemaker who became a teachers’ aid after her children were grown. Like many of the Greatest Generation, she witnessed a world changed almost beyond comprehension from her Depression-era childhood. She sought to see and understand that world, first with her husband and then alone. From remote outposts in Alaska to castles on the Rhine, experienced the exhilarating variety this earthly sphere has to offer. Through it all, she never lost her child’s sense of wonder at her amazing journey. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Buford, her daughter, Cindy Hunter, 3 of her siblings, Harold, Fred, and Ronald Petty. She is survived by her two sons, Tim and Brent; her siblings, Shirley Griffin, Hinton Petty Jr., and Gloria Valdes; her grandchildren, Hollis and Sam Carter, Wade and Jeb Hunter, and Rachel Carter. spring’s green shoots, winter’s ice shroud; new life
