Gregory Barrett Rupe

Gregory Barrett Rupe 10/17/1945 - 12/09/2024 Greg was born on October 17, 1945 in Charleston, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Rupe, his mother, Regina Rupe Hoban, and his sister, Judy Rupe. He was a graduate of the Plant High School class of 1963. He was drafted into the United States Army, serving as a lieutenant from January 1968 – December 1968 in the Vietnam conflict. He was an accountant and retired in 2014. He was a manager and coach at South Brandon Little League, serving on the Board of Directors for many years, including serving as its President. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon. Greg is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Petteway Rupe, daughter Emily (Alan), son Jeff (Elaine) and 5 grandsons, Nicholas, Andrew, Joshua, Elijah and Jacob, as well as 2 sisters, Nancy Fitzgibbons (Alan) and Linda Loudon (Pat), sister-in-law Sylvia Coffield, and brother-in-law, Steven R. Petteway Jr. (Diane) and many nieces and nephews. Greg was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. His family was his pride and joy, and he never missed an event that his grandchildren were involved in. Greg never met a stranger and he enjoyed a good conversation. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to send their sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors at Brandon Hospital, for the wonderful care they showed to Greg. Funeral Services for Greg will be held on January 25th, 2025, at 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Brandon 121 Carver Street, Brandon, FL 33510. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Greg’s name to Metropolitan Ministries, 2002 N. Florida Avenue Tampa, FL 33602.
