James Howard Bray

James Howard Bray October 5, 1936 - February 28, 2022 Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Mr. James Howard Bray, age 85, of Seffner, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 28, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. James was born in Summerville, Georgia on October 5, 1936, son of the late Howard Pierce Bray and the late Pearl Neal Bray. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Stevie, Billy and Lamar Bray. After graduating from Armuchee School, James served in the U.S. Army Reserve for eight years. He completed Air Condition and Refrigeration training certification and retired from the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union Local 15 in Tampa, Florida. Even after he retired he worked part time for the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections. He was also an emeritus member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia Free and Accepted Masons. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to many domestic and international destinations. Later in life, during their empty nester phase, he and his wife enjoyed spending time with their beloved cats, the late Fluffy, and Homer. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time on the family farm where he and his siblings worked the fields and tended the crops during his youth. Although growing up on the farm had its share of hardship and bad memories, the homestead was a place that soothed his soul. His greatest joy was spending the day riding his John Deere tractor and then watching the sunset on John’s Mountain from the back porch of their home in Armuchee, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharron Hamilton Bray; his daughters Debbie Wilson, Kathy (Mark)Larsen, Lisa (Howard)Jarrett, and son, Craig (Marlena)Bray.
