John Henry Bowden April 14th, 1946, - September 12, 2022 John Henry Bowden, age 76, died peacefully in his home of natural causes on Monday, September 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Ruth and William Bowden and his second wife, Debra Marie Bowden, maiden name Willen. John was born on April 14, 1946 to Ruth and William Bowden in Akron, Ohio. He attended Cuyahoga Falls high school and played baseball in the summer. He graduated high school in 1964. He graduated from Kent State University in 1971 with a Master's degree in Political Science. He played began to play golf recreationally while in college, which he continued to enjoy for decades afterwards. John was married twice. His first wife was Shelley Bowden, mother to his three daughters. They divorced in 1986. He married his second wife, Debra Marie Willen on May 4, 1991. Debra passed away in her sleep on March 11, 1992. He never remarried. John is survived by his three daughters and brother. His three daughters are Suzanne "Katie" Bowden, Meighan Monroe, and Jessica Walters. His older brother is Walter Bowden, husband to Gloria Bowden. John had a long career in the insurance industry, working for Kemper insurance for many years before starting his own business as an independent insurance agent at Anderson Insurance in Anderson township near Cincinnati, Ohio. John retired in 2004. John was an avid runner and ran many marathons. He also loved swimming. He supported many charities such as local cat rescues, the World Wildlife Fund, and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. John loved cats and had two Siamese when he passed. His oldest daughter Katie has inherited the cats and is continuing to spoil them in the manner to which they had become accustomed. Throughout his life John lived in many cities in Ohio including Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Mansfield, and Cincinnati before moving to Lithia, Florida in 2005. He enjoyed going to Las Vegas and playing poker at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. John was a lifelong sports fan and followed the Cleveland Guardians (formerly known as the Cleveland Indians), Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Redhawks of the Miami University of Ohio.
