John Melvin Spindler June 16, 1947 - July 15, 2021 Loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend Obituary John Melvin Spindler, age 74, of Plant City, Florida died Thursday, July 15, 2021 after a lengthy illness. John was the only child of Jack and Clema Spindler, born June 16, 1947 in Saginaw, Michigan, where he graduated Douglas McArthur High School in 1965. John was a salesman all of his life, working for many companies including the USFL team Michigan Panthers, TOPS bubble gum and baseball cards, and Naviera Coffee Mills. John was also well known for being Santa at the Lakeland Mall for many years. John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Spindler, his children Theresa Spindler, Scott (Kim) Wohlfeil, Brian Wohlfeil, Briana (Jason) Rutkiewicz, Lisa (Jason) Seelhoff, his 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. John was a lifelong fan of the Michigan Wolverines, and has an entire room in his home dedicated to all things Michigan. He had many hobbies including golfing, playing cards, fantasy football, and watching sports with his friends and family. No services will be held for John in Florida as many of those closest to him celebrated his last birthday with him at his home. A celebration of life will be held in Michigan at a later time.
