Roy Dennis Wilson Jr. May 01, 1955- 02/21/2023 Roy Dennis Wilson, Jr. passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023. He was 67 years old. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and faithful friend. He was born on May 1, 1955 in Tampa, FL, to Roy and Lillian Wilson. After growing up and serving in the United States Navy, Roy settled down in Brandon, FL where he spent the rest of his life with his life partner, best friend, and devoted wife, Helen Wilson. Roy was the life of the party and loved a good story, a good joke, and a good time. From his younger years with his siblings and friends, his years of service in the United States Navy, his time working at Darby’s and many other restaurants, bars, retirement homes, and hospitals around Tampa, to his retired years of working part-time at the Waterhole Sports Bar and Grill to just be around new people who hadn’t heard his bar jokes yet, Roy made friends and memories wherever he went. Roy was a proud Vietnam veteran and loved to write, cook, watch sci-fi and fantasy shows, and so much more. More than all of his hobbies and collectibles though, Roy just loved his people and his dogs. He was lucky to have found the love of his life and get 36 years with her, and nothing made him more proud than his two daughters, Mary Leon and Angela Roberson, as well as his two grandchildren, Koen and Kori Roberson. Roy is survived by his wife, Helen Wilson; daughters Mary Leon (Carlos) and Angela Roberson (Zac); grandchildren Koen and Kori Roberson; siblings Leroy Busby, Royce Wilson (Linda), Joanna Wilson, Billy Wilson (Christine), Susan Wenrick (Patrick), Gayle Gay (David), Henry Jodry (Maria), Laura Andrews (Jason), and Carl Crook (Veronica); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Dennis Wilson Sr. and Alice Lillian Wilson. Visitation will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church at 106 Rolling Hills Blvd., Valrico, FL 33594 on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10:00am with the funeral beginning at 12:00pm. Following the service, a private family gathering will take place.
