Carolyn Kay Wilson Lemanski November 30, 1948 - August 22, 2021 Obituary Carolyn Kay Wilson Lemanski, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away August 22, 2021, in Valrico, FL at the age of 72. She battled interstitial lung disease for over 10 years. She was born on November 30, 1948, in Marianna, Florida to Grey and Gwendolyn Wilson. Carolyn was a graduate of Walton High School in 1966, Chipola Junior College in 1968, and Florida State University in 1970 where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega social sorority. She earned her Masters of Arts degree in 2000 from the University of South Florida in Library and Information Science. She married Captain John Henry Lemanski on December 4, 1971 and began her life as a military wife and enjoyed living in Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Little Rock, Arkansas; Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany; and Valrico, Florida. Carolyn taught in the DODDS school system in Germany and the Okaloosa and Hillsborough County School Districts as an elementary teacher and ESE teacher and served as a media specialist at Lithia Springs Elementary in Valrico. She earned her National Board Certification in Media in 2006. She retired in 2015. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Grey and Gwendolyn Wilson; brother, Linwood Grey Wilson; and her dear father’s wife, Barbara Rushing Scofield Wilson, and brother-in-law, David White. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John Henry Lemanski, children Bethany Gwendolyn Lemanski (Michael Paille) of New Orleans, Louisiana, John Linwood Lemanski of Vero Beach, Florida, and Melissa Lemanski LaPorte (Nick) of Dade City, FL, Florida; grandchildren Owen Nicholas LaPorte, Chase McKinnon LaPorte, and Kathleen Grey Lemanski; brother, Michael McKinnon Wilson (Lynne) of Arlington, VA and sisters Kathryn Schofield White (Ed) of Brentwood, Tennessee, Cynthia Scofield Roehm (Johnny) of DeFuniak Springs, and Julie Scofield White of DeFuniak Springs. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Carolyn had an especially rich life filled with what’s most important – a caring family and an abundance of friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and especially relished sharing her love of reading with them. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, Florida on August 27, 2021, beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Wilson family plot at Magnolia Cemetery, DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
