Eleanor “Ellie” May Nerio 04/28/1936 – 1/18/2023 Eleanor “Ellie” May Nerio departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 86 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Peter Nicholson and Daniel A. Nerio and two grandchildren, Rebekah Nerio and Joseph Nicholson. Ellie was born April 28, 1936, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Charles and Alice Brothers. Ellie attended nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1972. She was employed by Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital for several years before leaving to care for her disabled son until his death in 2018. She was an extremely independent woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She was one of the first women to obtain a home loan in Saginaw, MI. Ellie was a kind, compassionate, loving, and a true caregiver by nature. She was very generous in supporting various organizations and giving her time to family and friends. She was considered the “favorite” aunt by her many nieces and nephews. Ellie enjoyed gardening, DIY home projects, sipping coffee by the pool, and especially family gatherings! She also liked to busy her hands by working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and sewing clothes for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will always cherish these memories. Ellie was survived by her children, Frederick G Nerio Jr. Tampa, FL, Tonie (Sean) Campbell Valrico, FL, and Terri (Alan) Haswell Freeland, MI. She leaves a surviving and most cherished brother, William “Bill” Brothers and a special daughter-in-law, Jean Nicholson. She outlived many of her 13 siblings including a special sister, Shirley Olivier and wonderful sister-in-law Donna Brothers. Ellie was a very proud grandmother to her 13 grandchildren: Rachel Perez, John Nerio, Joshua (fiancé Kellerin) Nerio, Frederick Nerio, Solomon (Katie) Nerio, Michael (fiancé Halie) Nerio, Tara (Correy) Collins, Daniel (Melissa) Cronin, Marissa (Aaron) Ramos, Brianne (Rick) Mendoza, Shauna (Will) Swartz, Tasha (Matthew) Eisenman and 15 great grandchildren who filled her world with great joy! A celebration of life will be held on February 10, 2023, at 11:00am at Redeemer Church, 12404 Boyette Road, Riverview, Florida. Pastor Craig Swartz will officiate.
